If you're staying in Llandudno this August and fancy an evening away from the beach, one of the highlights of the month is arriving right on our doorstep. The Ocean Film Festival World Tour comes to Venue Cymru on Saturday 2nd October 2026, bringing a week of stunning ocean adventure films to the town's own seafront theatre, and drawing visitors from across North Wales.

What is the Ocean Film Festival?

The Ocean Film Festival World Tour is a touring collection of documentary shorts celebrating the sea in all its forms, from surfing and diving to marine conservation and coastal exploration. It's the kind of programme that suits families, couples and solo travellers alike, and given Llandudno's own relationship with the coast, it feels like a particularly fitting fit for the town.

Screenings run each evening from 7.30 pm across the week, giving you plenty of choice depending on which night suits your holiday plans.

Why it's worth building into your Llandudno trip

Venue Cymru sits right on the promenade, just a short walk from the beach and town centre, so it slots easily into a day that's already included sand, sea air and an ice cream or two. It's also a comfortable, easy way to spend an evening if the weather turns, without needing to travel anywhere.

For anyone who loves the sea as much as we do, watching a programme of ocean films with the real thing visible just outside the theatre doors adds something special to the evening.

Practical tips for visiting

Book tickets in advance where possible, as touring film festivals of this kind tend to draw strong local interest, particularly for weekend evenings.

Arrive a little early if you'd like to enjoy the promenade beforehand; Venue Cymru's seafront setting makes for a lovely pre-show stroll.

Check the full nightly programme closer to the date, as running times and specific films can vary slightly across the week.

Where to stay nearby

Both of our properties put you within easy walking distance of Venue Cymru, so there's no need to worry about parking or a taxi home after an evening screening. It's exactly the kind of central, walkable location that makes an evening festival trip easy rather than a logistical headache.

James Court Apartments sits just 0.3 miles from the beach and a short stroll from the town centre and seafront, making it an easy, low-fuss base for an evening at the festival. Free parking and secure bicycle racks mean you've got flexibility for the rest of your day too.
